Ostinato ma gioioso, sfortunato in molti episodi della sua vita, rispecchia una grande voglia di vivere. Pongo è un cane pazzo; fa le cose di sua iniziativa, difficile da lavorare ma fantastico da viversi. In otto anni ha subito due operazioni al ginocchio e nonostante ciò ha sempre reagito. 
Ha subito tante disgrazie, la prima di queste essere abbandonato con i suoi fratelli e sorelle, prima dello svezzamento. Qualcuno li ha aiutati e li ha portati in canile, dove l'ho trovato: lontano dagli altri, triste e spaventato. 
Inizialmente è stato tutto difficile: anche passeggiare di sera, perché aveva paura delle ombre. Lentamente, con grande pazienza, sono riuscita a dargli sicurezza e fargli capire che la vita è una gioia. Mi piace guardarlo nuotare e divertirsi, anche se a volte devo essere dura e dare limiti. 
E' un cane dall'indole docile, che aiuta i cuccioli di socializzare, imparare l'educazione, in particolare a rispettare gli spazi; lui è burbero, ringhia, ma sa farsi rispettare. Soprattutto, è molto molto convincente ;-)

Pongo is stubborn, but merry, and even if he has sometimes been accompanied by ill fortune, he displays great zest for living. He is a crazy dog who takes initiative. He is not easy to train, but a great life companion. He has undergone knee surgery twice in 8 years, but he has never been disheartened, not even by all the adverse experiences he has been through. First of all, he was abandoned together with his siblings, before weaning. Somebody brought the puppies to a shelter, where I found Pongo sad and frightened, staying away from the other dogs. 
At the beginning, everything was difficult: Even going for a walk in the evening because he was afraid of shadows. It took a great amount of time and patience to make him feel safe and enjoy his life. I'm so fond of watching him swim or have a good time, even if I sometimes have to be strict and impose limits. 
He is a biddable dog and ready to help puppies socialise and teach them good manners, above all not to infringe on other individuals' space. He is grouchy and may growl, but he knows how to gain respect. Most importantly, he is very persuasive, indeed. ;-)
